LARUE---Funeral services for Mr. Carl McKenzie, 71, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Antioch Baptist Church- Chandler. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery under the direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Co. Public viewing will be held Friday from 2-8 p.m.
Carl Burnett McKenzie, was born March 14, 1953, in Moore Station, Texas to parents Carl
McKenzie and Thelma Ooten McKenzie. He attended Central High School and graduated from
Brownsboro High School in 1972.
In 1975, he began working at Kelly’s Springfield, as a Tire Technician, until he retired in 2005.
Shortly thereafter, he began working at O’Reily Auto Parts, as a driver. He served in the
ministry of the Lone Star Baptist Church, under pastoral leadership of Gary Nelson.
On Monday, July 29, 2024, he departed this life in Tyler, TX. Preceding him in death were his
parents and brother-in-law, Andy Cofer, Jr.
Left to forever cherish his memories are his daughters, Kristy McKenzie and Angelia McKenzie;
grandchildren, Kiauntis, Calvin, Ja’Davian, TaCorian, Ty’Shiana, Khalya, Aaron, Makel, 13
great-grandchildren; one brother and seven sisters; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and
great nephews; as well as a host of cousins and friends.
