Obituary For Carolyn Davis

(November 13, 1952--May 26, 2026)

TYLER--Services for Mrs. Carolyn Davis will be Friday, June 5, 2026, 11 am at North Tenneha Church of Christ. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Co.

Carolyn Davis was born on November13, 1952, in Norfolk, Virginia to Oscar and Amanda Everett.Norfolk was home during her early years and where she grew up, attended school and graduated from Maury High School in 1972. Those formative years shaped the strong, steady and coming women we all came to know and love.

Not long after high school, Carolyn met the love of her life, Homer Davis and they were married on September 1, 1973. Together they built a life grounded in love, faith and commitment, sharing over 52 years of marriage. Through every season, they stood side by side as true partners in life.

May 1974, Carolyn and Homer moved to Tyler, Texas where they began building their home and future together. Shortly after settling there, Carolyn became a mother on April 12, 1975. She gave birth to her first son, Lamont Davis, and again on August 11,1978, when she gave birth to her second son, LaRinzol Davis. She loved her boys deeply and raised them with care, strength, and a strong foundation of faith. As her family grew and her boys became men, she welcomed her daughter-in-love, Tawnya, Reva, and most recently, Tamara, with open arms and a genuine heart.

While raising her family, Carolyn was also a dedicated worker. Over the years, she served in roles at Tyler Computer Center, Dearborn Brass Company, Delta Drilling, East Texas Christian Academy, and Tyler Independent School District, where she eventually retired in July of 2022.

Carolyn's life was deeply rooted in her faith. She was a faithful member of North Tenneha Church of Christ from 1975 to 1996. During that time, she and Homer helped begin and coordinate Children's Bible Hour, a ministry that impacted many young lives. She also found great joy in the Ladies Quilting Ministry, where she shared fellowship service and meaningful connections with other women in the church.

In 1996, Carolyn and Homer moved their membership to Lyles Street Church of Christ where Homer serves as minister. Carolyn remained a devoted and faithful member there for the rest of her life, quietly living out her faith through acts of love, service and kindness.

One of Carolyn's greatest joys in this life was being “Gee Gee”.

Here grandchildren: Ariana, Tyree, Kierra, Brooklyn, Cameron, Mikalah and Kameryn brought her so much happiness and pride.

Carolyn leaves behind a family who loves her deeply, her husband: Homer; her sons: Lamont and his wife Tamara of Tyler, Texas and LaRinzol and his wife, Tawnya of Ramstein, Germany; her beloved grandchildren; her brothers: Oscar and Clayton Everett; a special daughter in love, Reva Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, inlaws and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Oscar and Amanda Everett and her sister: Jean Everett.

Public viewing will be Thursday, June 4th, from 2pm to 8pm at the funeral home.

I am saddened to hear about my loving niece Carolyn. When she moved to Texas, she would always visit me in North Carolina on her way to Norfolk. She would call me regularly. She last called me on Mother's Day. Not knowing that would be our last conversation.
Carolyn always had a smile when I saw her. I would joke with her over the years about me flying to visit her. She would just say come on Aunt Irene. I never made it out there. She knew I loved her and she loved me. Rest peacefully niece. I will miss you but I will see you again. Keeping you all in prayer.

My darling sweet niece is with Jesus now. She spent most of her life in Texas and I spent most of my life in Florida. We saw each other when we both visited North Carolina and Norfolk, Virginia to visit relatives. Her devoted husband always brought her to see her relatives. Deepest condolences to the Davis/Everette Family. Carolyn was my classmate in Norfolk, Virginia at, both, James Madison Junior High School and Matthew F. Maury High School. We were in the Class of 1972 where we reunited last time to celebrate 50 memorable years. Also, we lived in the Lambert's Point Community and grew up in First Baptist Church of Lambert's Point. We shared many friends and participated in many activities which deepend our sense of "Village!" Carolyn was a beautiful soul!!!
