TYLER--Funeral services for Ms. Ermogene Hayes, 93, of Tyler are scheduled for 12 p.m., Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Greater Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. J.L. Preston, eulogist. Burial will be in Hopewell Community Cemetery under direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Company.
Mrs. Hayes was born April 6, 1933 in Smith County to the late Freeman Evans and Willie Lee Ballinger. She transitioned on April 9, 2026.
Mrs. Hayes was a graduate of Emmett J Scott High School. She was a floral designer for Judge the Florist and Red Barn Flower Shop.
She was a member of Greater Hopewell Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, choir member and was later celebrated as the oldest living member of the church.
Ms. Hayes was preceded in death by daughter: Linda Lockhart, sons: Marshall Taylor, Gary Johnson and Johnny Hayes. She is survived by grandchildren: Kequnia Searcy (Tony), Shaledra Lockhart, Johnny Hayes Jr, Melody Love (Nigel) all of Tyler, Texas, Cedric Taylor, Johnathan Rollins both of Dallas, Texas, Brandy Hayes (Rudolph) of Rockwall, Texas, Tyrus Russell of West Texas, a host of siblings and a host of great and great great grandchildren.
Public viewing will be on Friday, April 17, 2026 at the funeral home from 3 pm to 8 pm.
