TYLER--Celebration of life for Mr. Leo Henry Sr, 98, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Miles Chapel CME Church with Dr. Josef Sorrels, eulogist. Burial will be Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 11 am in DFW National Cemetery, Dallas,Tx. The services are under the direction of John R Harmon Undertaking Company.
Mr. Henry was born on September 12, 1926 in Smith County to both the late Alphonso Henry and Josephine Lee and the late L.V. McGowan-Henry whom he was raised by. Mr. Henry transitioned on September 5, 2025.
He graduated from Emmett J Scott High school in 1945. He proudly served in the United States Army as PFC and he earned the World War II Victory Medal before receiving a Honorable Discharge in 1947.
While pursuing his teaching degree at Texas College, he became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. In 1953, he was united in holy matrimony with Clarice L Henry, who preceded him in death in 1998.
Mr. Henry was devoted husband who provided and worked tirelessly to support both his immediate and extended families. Over the course of his life, he pursued several careers from the United States Postal Services.
He was preceded in death by daughter: Debra Dupree; siblings: Helen, Linnie, Alphonso Jr., Finis, Joyce, Don, George, Jerry and Richard.
Mr. Henry is survived by daughter, Rebecca Williams, son: Leo Henry Jr.; grandchildren: Cedric Dupree and Jalan Henderson; three great grandchildren; siblings: Carolyn Brown-Baker, Glenda Winston, Sandra Taylor (Lawrence), Wilma Fa Brookings and a host of nieces, cousins and friends.
Public viewing will be on Friday, September 12, 2025 from 2 pm to 8 pm at the funeral home.
