Ms. Johnson peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA surrounded by care and compassion.
Monica was a beloved member of the Dawson community whose life touched many through her presence, kindness, and strength. During this time of bereavement, the family respectfully asks for your prayers, comfort, and continued support as they navigate this season of loss.

To my sister,
Our relationship was never perfect. We had our ups and downs, our disagreements, and at times, distance between us. We weren't always close in the traditional sense, but you were my sister, and that alone made our connection meaningful.
What we shared was unique, eclectic, sometimes complicated, but it was real. The highs and the lows were simply part of our story. Even when we didn't see eye to eye, there was still an unspoken bond that existed because we were family.
Most people knew you as Monica, but to us, you were Jerry; a name that carries memories, history, and pieces of you that only family truly understands.
Our family has now lost two loved ones so close together, and it is absolutely devastating. The weight of this grief feels overwhelming at times. Losing you in the midst of another loss has made this season even more painful and hard to process.
I will always reflect on the memories we did create, the moments, the conversations, and the pieces of life we experienced in our own way. Losing you leaves a quiet space that reminds me that no matter the distance or differences, you were still a part of me.
Please keep our family, especially my mother, lifted up in prayer, because we are going to need every bit of strength and support during this time.
You will be truly missed, in ways that words cannot fully capture.
