Alphonse Eugene Burch, Sr., affectionately known as “Fonz” or “Pop”, passed away on February 19, 2025, at Bradenton River Rehabilitation Center in Manatee County, Florida. He was 71 years old.
Born on June 20, 1953, in Sanford, Florida, Alphonso was raised in Trenton, NJ. He later journeyed to Florida where he pioneered in appliance repair and air conditioning. He was a man of deep faith and spiritual curiosity, exploring, respecting and studying numerous religions.
Alphonso was a dedicated employee of Air Around the Clock, a well-known air conditioning company in South Florida. His strong work ethic, humor and warm personality left a lasting impression on both colleagues and customers alike.
Above all, Alphonso cherished his family. He found joy in lending a helping hand to those in need. His joy in fishing provided him with peace and happiness, and he took pride in sharing his passion with those around him. His words of wisdom and generosity made him beloved by many.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alonzo Copper. He leaves behind his devoted mother, Minnie Royal and his siblings: David (Michelle) Yarbrough, Allegra (John) Jackson, Debbie (Eddie) Diaz, Patricia Yarbrough, Robin (Curtis) Cotton, Mickey (Mary) Copper, Gail Harris, and Byron Copper. His loving children: Tameka Burch-Moore, Alphonso E. Burch, Jr., Leslie Burch, Troy Burch, and Josh (Mariah) Burch, His ex-wife Linda Burch and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
Alphonso’s legacy of love and faith will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched.
A celebration of life will be held on March 9, 2025.
