Obituary For Andrew Lee DeJerinett

Andrew Lee DeJerinett, received his “Wings”, November 14, 2025 at 1:00 in the morning. He was born in Sarasota to Bishop Eddie & Lula DeJerinett. He attended the Sarasota CountySchools. Family and close friends who know him, affectionately called him “Teeney”. He wasn’t a very talkative person, unless you happen to be talking about TRAINS!.....God gaveus all a “Gift” and that was Andrews’. All he had to do was hear a train coming down the tracks and he could tell you exactly what kind it was and where it was going just from the sound of the whistle. We lived close by the track in those days and sometimes the engineer would slow down enough so Andrew could jump on and he would take him for a little ride down the track. So during the early morning of November 14, 2025 at 1:00, the Head Engineer, slowed his train down and told Teeney to get on board. He looked around one last time at his loved ones and God took him on to his final destination… Heaven!

Andrew is predeceased by his beloved father and mother, “Bishop D” and “Mrs. Lula”, also his maternal and paternal grandparents, and all of his Aunts and Uncles.

Left to cherish, and remember his life and legacy is his devoted companion of 23-years, Luvenia Pinckney; his loving son, Jonquil and his daughter, Neveah DeJerinett (she LOVED her daddy y’all); his sister, Alice Herrera; his brothers, Anthony (Lynnetta), James (Glendie). And his grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of cousins. Also left to mourn his passing are his childhood friends that he grew up with and shared so many good times with (…you know who you are)!

Visitation will be held from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Fri., Nov. 21, 2025 at Jones Funeral Home. Services will be held 1:00pm on Sat., Nov. 22, 2025 at Payne Chapel AME Church. Funeral arrangements by Jones Funeral Home.
