Bettye Lou Bryant Watson was the third oldest child of the late Mr. Abraham Davis, Sr. and Lizzie Thompson Davis. Mrs. Watson was born in Llody, Florida on July 15, 1943. She attended school in Monticello, Florida until 1958 when she moved to Manatee County with the rest of her family. She completed her education at Lincoln Memorial High School where she graduated in the Class of 1962. Mrs. Watson was employed at GTE Telephone Company as a secretary for 13 years. She also worked with her mother as a personal maid for Mrs. Barbara Riester for one year and for two years with Manatee County when she decided to retire from working.
Mrs. Watson is predeceased by her husband Homer E. Watson, mother Lizzie Davis, father Abraham Davis, Sr., son, Darryl Lamb, Sr., grandson, Darryl Lamb, Jr., granddaughter Tequila Jones, sister Beulah Mae, brothers, Thomas Lee Davis and Franklin Jones, and former husband, Clyde Bryant, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: three sons, Clyde Bryant, Jr. (Tammy), Walter Watson and Jacoby Jones; one step-son and four step-daughters, nine grandchildren, Sherita Lamb, Clyde Bryant, III, Jaylen Bryant, ArTez Watson, Ta’Liyah Watson, Ricky Colon, Leilani, Breanna and Marisa Bryant; one brother, Abraham Davis, Jr., two sisters, Mazzie Maddox and Ethel Davis-Robinson (Harry),three sisters-in-law, six former sisters-in-law, three former brothers-in-law, seven nephews, eight nieces, 15 great-grands and a host of great nephews, nieces, cousins and other family members, a special cousin, Laverna “Pete” Mack, a special friend, Deloris Williams and a host of other friends.
A viewing will be held on Friday, May 23 at Jones Funeral Home, 4005 North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 24th at 11:00 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Jones Funeral Home.
