Obituary For Birdie Althea Brown

Birdie Althea Brown was born on November 10, 1950 to the late Lawrence Major Sr. and late Beatrice Major.

She was married to the late Michael Eugene Brown Sr. on July 7, 1968. She graduated from Riverview High School in 1968. Within their union they born three children, Micheal Eugene Brown II, Melissia Eugenia Brown, and Khristopher Alexzander Brown (late).

She was a loving wife, a phenomenal mother, favorite aunt and friend to many in the community. Birdie serviced as a Certified Nursing Aide for well over 40 years in Sarasota County: J.H. Floyd , Manor Care, and Tarpon Point Nursing Homes.

She is preceded in death by her brothers, Lawrence Major and Stanley Major.

Birdie leaves to cherish her memories her son, Micheal E. Brown II and Melissia E. Brown; 2 grandchildren, Oliver Micheal Brown of Denmark and Mykayla Brown of Sarasota; 1 god son, Larry Love Joy II; brother, Allen T. Major of Boston, Massachusetts, 3 sisters, Michelle Major, Glenda Lane, and Norvice White of Sarasota and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 11:00am-1:00pm on Sat., Jan. 17, 2026 at Bethel C.M.E. Church. Services will be held 1:00pm on Sat., Jan. 17, 2026 at Bethel C.M.E. Church. Burial will be held 2:00pm on Sun., Jan 18, 2026 at Palms Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements by Jones Funeral Home.
