Dorothy Mae Bolden, 90, of Sarasota, FL, passed away on Aug. 23, 2023. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Fri., Sep. 1, 2023 at Jones Funeral Home. Services will be 1:00pm on Sat., Sep. 2, 2023 at Greater Hurst Chapel A.M.E. Church. Burial will be 10:00am on Tues., Sep. 5, 2023 at Sarasota National Cemetery.
Mrs. Dorothy Mae Bolden peacefully transitioned from this earthly life on Wednesday, 23 August 2023 at 7:30 PM. God called her home with her devoted daughters by her side.
Mrs. Dorothy Mae Bolden was born in Bowling Green, Florida to Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie and Betty Langston on 6 June 1933. She moved to Sarasota, Florida with her parents and brother Mr. Johnnie "Billy" Langston at a very young age. After the death of her father Mr. Johnnie Langston she was blessed and loved by her step-father Mr. Joe Elmoe "Pet" Sloan.
At the age of 15 she met the love of her life Mr. Ulysees "Pete" Bolden. They were married on 19 August 1971 for 62 years until he departed this earth. She was the proud Mother of four lovely daughters.
Mrs. Dorothy was a God-fearing mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to encouraging, influencing and instilling the right morals and values to her entire family. Her daily faith walk and compassion for serving the Lord was demonstrated as she diligently served on the Stewardess Board and sang in the choir at Greater Hurst Chapel AME Church until her health started to decline.
Mrs. Dorothy had a genuine love for people which would afford her the opportunity to provide medical care as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Prior to becoming a CNA, she attended Booker High School.
Mrs. Dorothy Mae Bolden's love for people Never wavered as she devoted her time and talents to caring, encouraging and loving everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her.
She leaves to continue her legacy: Devoted daughter's: Mrs. Audrey Harris (Charlie), Mrs. Millicent Brewington (Raymond), Dr. Connie Boldn, Ms. LaTressa Bolden; Bonus son's: Mr. Donald Hawkins, Sr. and Mr. Eric Bolden, Sr.
Dedicated care providers: Ms. Shirella Gordon - 1st granddaughter Mr. Reginald Gordon - 1st grandson, Ms. Shontez Bolden - granddaughter, Mr. Eugene Hicks, Jr. - grandson, Mr. Darryl Oliver, Jr. - grandson; 9 Grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory: Ms. Ann Langston - Niece, Mr. Johnnie Langston - Nephew, Ms. Paula Langston - Niece, Mr. Lance Sloan - Nephew , Mrs. Alberta Sanders - Sister in love, Mrs. Agnes Hollin (Harvey) - Cousin, Mrs. Thalla Honor (Booker) - Cousin, Mrs. Dorothy Coon Clark - Friend
Along with a host of family, friends and relatives who will miss her tremendously.
