Henry (Pop) Blake was born on December 2, 1946 in Sarasota, FL to the late Lucille and Will Blake.
He was a 1965 graduate of Booker High School. Shortly after graduation, he joined the United States Army. After an honorable discharge from the army, he was employed as the first African American Park Ranger for the State of Florida.
Henry leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Patricia. Henry was the baby brother to four sisters: Minnie Coleman, Kressie Jones (Clarence) deceased, Willie Mae Blake Sheffield (Horras), Dolores Williams (Frank-Deceased)
Also mourning his death are his heartbroken children: Elizabeth (Zolia) Williams, Ericka Bryant (Tony III), Tiffany Williams, Corita Cherry, Tiffany Davis (Al), Phazya Dawson, Katisha Edmound, Nicole Robinson, Vanesia Blake, Jeff Blake, Mike Blake, Carlos Blake (Valencia), Jacent Blake (Morgan), Mark Sheffield, Terrance Gilliam (Danika), and Vantrell Blake; Bonus Children include Louis Robison and Shoneji Robison. Additional family includes nieces and nephews: Debbie Sullivan, Kassine Gerrell, Elexia Moss, Tony Coleman, Preston Coleman, Carlos Jones, Rickey Jones, Ron Jones, Todd Jones (deceased); in-laws; Leon Byrd (Retha) and Vanessa McCall (Albert); a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; God daughter Sophia Lee and a plethora of cousins, other family members and friends ..Pop slipped away peaceable on March 24, 2025. God rest his soul.
Visitation will be held 6:00pm-8:00pm on Wed. April 2, 2025 at Bethel CME Church. Services will be held 10:00am on Thurs. April 3, 2025 at Light of the World Church. Burial will be held 1:00pm on April 3, 2025 at Sarasota National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Jones Funeral Home.

Blake, aka "Pop" and I were Vietnam War buddies thru basic training into civilian life. He ALWAYS could make you laugh no matter what the situation would be. My condolences goes to the family. RIP- MY Friend and war brother.
"Pop" Blake as all of his classmates and schoolmates called him. He was a funny comedian; he kept us in stitches. I'll always remember him. Thank you Pop. May you rest in peace. My condolences and prayers to the family.
