Mother Mary L. Rivers was born June 13, 1936 in Dothan, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, one sister, one brother, and her husband Elder R.T. Rivers. She answered the calling of her name to come on up Glory on Thursday March 13, 2025.
She leaves to cherish her memories, seven children: 5 sons, Charlie (Linda), Floyd (Marie), Billy (Minnie), Ricky and Ted (Shawnee); 2 daughters, Betty, and Claudia (TC); grandchildren and great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Shirley, Clara, and Robin; 1 brother, John (Carletha); God sister, Margarite Stewart.
She served as Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church school teacher, President of the Senior Women, Member of Choir #1, and Advisor of the Youth Department.
She was a virtuous woman, a leader, a first lady that displayed her God given Leadership and positive influence on her family and community: SaraMana President of Ministry Wives, Union #2 President of the Senior Women, District of South Florida Association President of Matrons, President of the Senior Women Department, President of Ministry Wives, State Convention-President of Ministry Wives.
Visitation will be held from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Friday, April 4, 2025 at Light of the World Church. Services will be held 11:00am on Saturday April 5, 2025 at Light of the World Church. Burial will be held Tuesday at Sarasota National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Jones Funeral Home.
