Minnie Ruth Loman Dupree was born October 18th 1941 in Coffee County Alabama to the union of Lathie Lee Phillips and Botha Lee Loman. She passed away peacefully at her home on July 10th, 2024. Minnie grew up in Alabama until moving to Florida at the age of 7. She attended Booker Schools. Minnie prayed to God for a good husband and married her Prince Charming Jerome Dupree on December 18th 1960. Minnie was a devoted wife to her husband Rev. Jerome Dupree. She supported her husband as First Lady of Koinonia M.B. Church for many years. She supported him in his work in the community, being city commissioner and Mayor of Sarasota. She was his strength in times of weakness and his peace for over 60 years.
Minnie went to Gibbs Technical School and obtained her master cosmetology license. She loved doing hair and continued throughout her life until she could not any longer.
Minnie always wanted to be a mother. She prayed to God for babies and God blessed her with 3 children (Denise, Angie, Jay).
Minnie was a woman of many talents she loved to decorate, sew, cook and tried different careers such as radiology, and telephone operator.
She is survived by her sister Johnnie Mills, children Laletha Dupree, Jeretha Dupree (Luke), Jerome Dupree Jr, grandchildren Jamie Dupree, Teddy Durham (Tenille), Hakeem Rhodes, Minjennie Rhodes, Najee Rhodes and great grandchildren Aniyah Durham, Harry Scott III, Tenyla Durham, and Trayon Williams, sister in law Ann Dupree, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, bonus children and grandchildren, sons in the ministry and Koinonia Church Family.
She is predeceased by her husband Rev. Jerome Dupree Sr, father Botha Lee Loman, mother Lathie Lee Phillips, brother Willie Clarence Loman, and granddaughter Deneshia Milner.
Children and her family were everything to Minnie. She took a part in raising many other nieces, nephews, and godchildren who she loved dearly.
She treated everyone she met like they were family. She lead life with love and compassion. She loved God dearly and it showed in how she lived her life and helped everyone she could.
Visitation will be held from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Fri., July 19, 2024 at Trinity Christian Fellowship Center. Services will be held 1:00pm on Sat., July 2024 at Trinity Christian Fellowship Center. Burial will be held at Palms Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements by Jones Funeral Home.
