Terry Lee Conwell was born on July 23, 1952, and transitioned peacefully on November 24, 2025.
Terry was a lifelong resident of Sarasota, Florida, whose presence, warmth, and generosity touched countless lives. Terry attended Sarasota High School with the infamous Class of 1971. He had a pure love for football—a passion that brought him joy and created meaningful connections with others.
He shared his musical talents as a Disc Jockey. He DJ'd at the Capricorn and Manhattan Lounges bringing energy, rhythm, and good times wherever he played. Terry also dedicated many years to serving his community as a security guard, later retiring from Martin Concrete with admiration and respect from those he worked alongside.
Terry will forever be remembered for the deep love he poured into the people around him. He was a mentor and a steady father figure to his nieces and nephews, who adored him. His caring nature extended far beyond his family—children throughout the neighborhood lovingly called him Uncle Terry, a name that perfectly captured his spirit of kindness, guidance, and open-hearted affection.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Maccia (Remecca) YarShawn Bunton (Frank). He is also survived by his loving mother, Ruby (Ms. Broom) Conwell; Three beloved sisters, Lavada Johnson, Alice R. Garner and Gale Pepilus; and Three brothers, Timothy Conwell, Jerry L. Garner, and Shawn E. Garner. His loving aunt, Alley M. Hornes; Five grandchildren; and one great grandson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends who became family. Special recognition is given to his excellent caregiver, Markesha Watkins, for her devoted care and support.
Terry leaves behind a legacy of love, mentorship, and grace. Though he may be gone from our sight,
he will never be gone from our hearts.
