Obituary For Viola Farmer Peterson

Sister Viola Farmer Peterson was born January 3, 1945, in Sarasota, Florida, to the late Mr. Willie Farmer, Sr. and the late Lucy Mae Farmer.

She was a longtime member of Truvine Missionary Baptist Church. As she left for college, married, and moved to San Antonio, Texas, she became a member of Gateway Baptist Church.

After the death of her son, she would come to Sarasota and spend six months each year with her mother. She attend Truvine for Sunday School and worship service until she became ill.

On Sunday, June 28, 2026, the death angel visited her at Branchwood Facility at 4:00am with chilly fingers sealing her lips, she gently laid her head on the bosom of Christ and fell asleep.

Viola Farmer Peterson was preceded in death by her: only son, Robert Peterson; mother, Lucy Mae Farmer; father, Willie Farmer, Sr.

Visitation will be held from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Fri., July 10, 2026 at Jones Funeral Home. Services will be held 11:30am on Sat., July 11, 2026 at Truvine Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be held at Palms Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements by Jones Funeral Home.
