Obituary For Annie Stroble Tanner

Spartanburg, SC -- Mrs. Annie Bell Stroble Tanner was born on April 10, 1924 in Moore, South Carolina. She departed this earthly life on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at White Oak Estates Nursing and Retirement Center. Mrs. Tanner was the daughter of late Guy and Lula Harris Stroble. She was the widow of James Vernon Tanner; Mrs. Tanner was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Tanner joined Traveler’s Rest Baptist Church at an early age where she served on the Usher’s Board as both Vice President and President. She later moved her membership to the Monk’s Grove Baptist Church. At Monk’s Grove, she became an active member of the Missionary Ministry. Mrs. Tanner was the founder of Sigsbee Community Sympathy Club where she served as president for 15 years. She was also an Eastern Star. Mrs. Tanner was employed by the Raycord Corporation for over forty years. She later worked for the Milliken Corporation and Charles Lea Center before retiring. Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: her children, Cora (Robert) Wallace, Guy (Connie) Tanner, Willie Tanner, Sonia (Tommy) Moss, all of Spartanburg and Sharon (John) Kelly of Riverdale, Georgia; her daughter-in-law, Jeanette Tanner; her twelve grandchildren; Kathy (Warren) Moore, Tammy Tanner, Angie Tanner, Anita (Leroy) Steward, Timothy (Sharon) Andrews, LaDevia Leath, Tampatha Tanner, Terrence Tanner, Kimberly (Guiyion) Mallory , Lavargio Tanner, Carlos Tanner, and John S. Kelly; her 19 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, a loving sister in-Law, Myrtle Stroble and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Mrs. Tanner was preceded in death by: her son, Thomas Tanner; her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Norris and her grandson, Robert “Bobby” White, Jr. A Celebration of the Life of Annie Bell Stroble Tanner will be held on Monday, July 20, 2015 at 1:00 p.m at Monks Grove Baptist Church, 718 Monks Grove Church Rd., Spartanburg, SC. Dr. John H. Corbitt will officiate. Interment will be held in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Cora Wallace, 105 St. James Dr., Spartanburg, SC 29303.
