Deacon Arthur Rice, Jr, 76, of 971 John Hart Road, Jonesville, SC, entered enteral rest on March 8, 2022. โTipโ, as he was affectionately called by those that knew him, was born on February 23, 1946 to late Arthur and Daisy Rice in West Springs. He attended Union County public schools. Deacon Rice was devoted husband to the late Dollie Mae Samuel Rice for over 50 years.
He began his career as concrete finisher with Fiske-Carter Construction and eventually set out to become a sole proprietor and owner of TipCo Concrete and subcontractor for Roebuck Builders where he completed commercial building and foundations in various cities and states. He was widely known and praised for the work that he did as a concrete finisher.
Deacon Rice was a quiet pillar of strength and courage for his family, friends and all who knew him. He loved the Lord and loved to minister the gospel through his singing. He was a cheerful giver and had a serving spirit, never missing an opportunity to sew into someone that had a need. A faithful believer and believer in the power of prayer, Deacon Rice was an example of servant leadership in his home and church.
Deacon Rice loved his church, Wyattโs Chapel Baptist Church in Buffalo, South Carolina, and his church family. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age. He served as a Deacon, member and President of the All Male Choir, and led the Kitchen Ministry. He was project manager in over the construction of the educational wing church expansion and instrumental in the planning and building of the current sanctuary.
Deacon Rice leaves to cherish fond and loving memories to: his children, Hope (Calvin) Rice-Ray of Laurens, SC, Leon Young, Kelton, SC, Trina Rice and Kimberly Rice of Spartanburg, SC; one grandson, Tyson Tyquan Rice-Ray, Laurens, SC; two granddaughters, Tiffany Young of Spartanburg, SC and BreAsia Harris of Rockhill, SC; three brothers, Bobby (Ruby) Peake, Sr., Clyde (Mary) Rice, and Joe Floyd of Jonesville, SC; four sisters, Shirley (Nathaniel) Nash, Daisy (Christopher) Steward, and Bettye Rice of Union, SC, Bernice Glenn of Jonesville, SC; brothers-in-law, William (Debra) Samuel and James Arthur (Pamela) Samuel of both Spartanburg, SC and Eric Savage of Carlisle, SC ; sisters-in-law, Mamie (Calvin) Suber and Carolyn Rice both of Spartanburg, SC; and a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Arthur Sr. and Daisy Peake Rice, he was preceded in death by: his loving and devoted wife of fifty years, Deaconess Dollie Mae Samuel Rice; siblings, Booker T. Rice, Sr., Barbara Rice Savage, Jackie Rice, Samuel Kay Rice, and James Rice.
A Celebration of the Life of Deacon Arthur Rice, Jr. will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Wyatt's Chapel Baptist Church, 153 Wyatts Chapel Rd., Buffalo, SC. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive family and friends at the home, 971 John Hart Rd., Jonesville, SC 29353.
