Mrs. Bessie Smith, βBetβ, daughter of the late Swan Odell Posey and Mrs. Corine Hunter Posey
was born in Cherokee County on May 13th, 1951. She departed this life on November 12th.
2025. She was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church, she attended and graduated Gaffney
High School, and was a retired laborer of Revman Industries, along with Piccadilly, Sky City,
and Mary Black. Bessie was preceded in death by her husband Mr Bennie Smith Sr, one son
Reginald Scott, four brothers, Mr. Odell Posey, Mr. Billy Posey, Reverend Perry Posey Sr., and
Mr. Larry Hunter, two sisters Mrs. Darlene Littlejohn and Mrs. Flora Jeter. She leave to cherish
many fond and loving memories: one son Mr. Christopher Smith, two daughters, Mrs. Amanda
McClintock (Darryl), Ms. Atasha Scott, one stepson Mr. Bennie Smith Jr. (Lisa), two step-
daughters, Ms. Kimberly Smith and Ms. Tiffany Smith, one brother William Posey, two sisters,
Mrs. Carolyn White and Ms. Jackie Posey, and two sisters in law/love, Mrs. Vergie Posey and
and Mrs. Katherine (Earl) Moring, all of Spartanburg County and Gaffney County, three
grandchildren, Kierra Pendleton, BreβLei Smith, and Krislynn Smith, a step grandchild, Jabree
Smith, and one step great grandchild, Braylen Smith, and a host of nieces, nephews, and loving
relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at 12:00noon at Island Creek Baptist Church, Cowpens, SC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
