Calvin Maxton, Jr., 73, entered into eternal rest on August 29, 2021. He was the son of the late Margaret Posey. Calvin was the widower of Inez Maxton.
Mr. Maxton was a retired Navy Veteran. He served in Vietnam and was awarded a Purple Heart.
Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: his children, Cynthia Gandy (Benny), Dianna Haywood, LaVonya Haywood and Timothy Haywood; his grandchildren, Bryon Haywood, Delario Nance, Jr., Alexis Haywood, Tadrain Booker and Derrick Hughes, Jr.; his great-grandson, Kingston Jeremiah McLead; his sister, Rhonda C. Maxton of Columbia, SC; his three brothers, Ray (Shirley) Posey, Scottie (Regina) Posey and Mark Posey all of Spartanburg, SC; and a host of other family members and friends.
A Celebration of the Life of Calvin Maxton, Jr. will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at New Trinity Baptist Church, 1130 Old Spartanburg Hwy., Lyman, SC. Reverend Dennis C. Rector will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Maxton will lie in state on Sunday, September 5, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC.
The family is at the home of Calvin Maxton, Jr., 1203 Old Anderson Mill Rd., Moore, SC.

Calvin was a great guy in many ways,we both worked for the city fire department starting back in 1972 and I started first and he followed second ! He always had some jokes to tell you each and every day! He was a very smart person and he knew the fundamentals of fire protection! He will be miss,Heavenly Bound !🙏🙏🙏
