Obituary For Charles Young

Mr. Charles Butler Young 81, of 297 Westover Dr. Spartanburg, SC, entered into eternal rest on December 29, 2023, under the care of Spartanburg Regional Hospice, at the home of his grand-daughter, Latoria Kelly and husband Cedric Kelly, along with 6 great grand-children in the home: Destiny, Grace, Faith, Caleb, Kelib, and Saderian Kelly. He was the son of the Late O.C and Velma Sims Young.

Mr. Young retired from Abbott Laboratories after over 30 years of service.

He was a former member of Cleveland Chapel Baptist Church,

Survivors include: three daughters, Ms. Lynette Fernanders of Spartanburg, SC, Ms. Sharon Drummond of Spartanburg, SC and Mrs. Latonya (Marcel) Meredith of Greenville, SC; one God-daughter, Ms. Latarsha Durrah of Spartanburg, SC; sisters, Mrs. Theresa (the late Jesus) Juarez of Spartanburg, SC and Ms. Beverly Ann Young of Laurens, SC, and Gwen Bryant of Spartanburg, SC; brothers, Edward (Barbara) Young of Inman, SC, Booker T. (Ethel) Young of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Shanell Meredith, Phillip Miller and Kendrell Drummond all of Spartanburg, SC; and a host of other relatives, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Mrs. Margaret Young; two children, Mrs. Jacqueline Young and Charles Young Jr.; and two brothers, Otis C. Young and Mr. Jimmy Young.

A Celebration of the Life of Charles Butler Young will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 12:00 noon at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC. Burial will be in the Lincoln Memorial Gardens, 2256 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC.
