Corrie Elizabeth Gist, daughter of the late James Walter Shippy and Hattie Bell Littlejohn Shippy, was born on September 12, 1948 in Union South Carolina. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Annie Ruth Littlejohn and Henrietta Lipscomb; her brother, Howard Littlejohn; her daughter, Aurelia Gist and her granddaughter Ciera Nicole Gist. Corrie attended Benjamin E. Mays in Pacolet, South Carolina. She worked at White Oak Estates Nursing Home for many years. She retired as a private caregiver where she worked for over 25 years. Her life was a reflection of her love for her family and her passion for taking care of others. Left to cherish loving memories and celebrate her life is her daughter, Tina Gist of Spartanburg, South Carolina; her three sons, Ronald Gist and Marcellus Gist of Spartanburg, South Carolina and James Gist of Lake Norman, North Carolina; her granddaughter, Whitney Gist who was reared in the home; her grandson, Jeremy Gist of Simpsonville, SC; her great granddaughter, Jayden Gist; her three grandsons, Terrence Gist, Terrell Gist, and Tyler Gist; her three sisters,Linda Shippy, Marvis Huntley, and Betty Byrd of Pacolet, South Carolina; her brother, Walter Lee Shippy of Pacolet, South Carolina;her sister in law, Mary Tracy of Pacolet, South Carolina; a special friend, Paulette Alexander, twenty four grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
A Celebration of the Life of Corrie Gist will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC. Burial will be in the Mt. Sinai FBH Church Cemetery, 410 Jerusalem Rd Pacolet, SC.29372
