Cynthia Denise "Neicey" Young, 64, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023, following a cardiac arrest. "Neicey" was born Cynthia Denise Farr on May 5, 1959, in Spartanburg, S.C. She was the youngest of four siblings born to the late Shirley Ann Reid (Farr) and Arthur Farr Sr. She attended Spartanburg High School where she was involved in various sports activities and a part of the school band.
"Niecey" moved to New York City in 1990 with her high school sweetheart, Stanley Lyles where they resided together for over 30 years. Cynthia went on to become a Certified Nursing Assistant and a Dietary Aide. She worked as a dietary aide at Lutheran Augustana Center for Extended Care & Rehab until she was forced into early retirement due to health issues in 2010. "Niecey" enjoyed reading, picnics, nature walks, traveling, listening to music, but what brought her the most joy was spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by: her two daughters, Sharekia Denise Young and Shunti Domonique Young: her seven grandchildren; her two great-grandchildren; one sister; two brothers; her common-law husband, Stanley Louis Lyles; and a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and many cousins.
A Celebration of the Life of Cynthia Denise Young will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 190 Beech St Pacolet, SC. Burial will be in the Lincoln Memorial Gardens, 2256 Cannons Campground Rd., Drayton, SC.
Wow...I just saw this. Neicey and I were the best of besties before she moved to NY. I missed her dearly but never had a chance to reconnect with my friend. I deeply regret this, and it breaks my heart that now I'll never get the chance. See you in heaven, my sister, and I will forever keep our friendship sacred.
