Obituary For Deacon Namon Young

Deacon Namon Young Deacon Namon 'Poppy' Young, 76, peacefully entered into eternal rest on January 21, 2016 at the home of his daughter, Denetrice Young. Namon was the son of the late Walter and Elizabeth Edwards Young; he was the loving husband of Willie Dell of Brooklyn, NY. Deacon Young was born in Barnwell County. He graduated from Kelly Edwards High School in Elko, SC. Namon was retired from Cooper Standard Products in New York City after 50 years of service. Deacon Young loved God, his family and his church. His favorite encouraging words were:'If you pray, don't worry; if you worry, don't pray.' Deacon Young was a faithful and dedicated Deacon of First Baptist Church of Fairforest, where he also served on various ministries. He was a spirit-filled Sunday School teacher, member of the All Male Chorus, chairman of the Prison Ministry, a weekly bible study member and a member of the Gospel Messengers. Left to cherish fond and loving memories in their hearts are: his beautiful wife of 63 years; his three daughters, Denetrice Young of Spartanburg, SC, Lorraine Myers and Daphne Young both of Brooklyn, NY; his two sons, Shawn (Mona) Young of West Orange, NJ and Christopher (Robini) Constatine of Brooklyn, NY; his three brothers, John (Doris) Young, Phinice (Doris) Young both of Williston, SC and Ale Johnson; his four sisters, Luretha Daniels of Irvington, NJ, Gladys Young of Hamilton, NJ, Hattie Milligan and Gale ( Ernest) Reed both of Elko, SC; his six grandchildren; his six great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. A Celebration of the Life of Deacon Namon 'Poppy' Young will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Fairfirest, 200 Charity Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29301. Reverend W. I. Jenkins will officiate. Deacon Young will lie in state at the church from 12:0o noon until the hour of the service. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
