I am just finding out of Dennis' passing. We were next door neighbors as children in Cleveland, Ohio. I knew Mr. and Mrs. Callahan, his brother 'Sonny' and sister Joan and youngest brother Alonzo.I am saddened to hear of his passing. We were the same age, although 4 months older than Dennis. He had an easy laugh and laughed heartily at my corny jokes. His nick name was 'Lucky'. Condolences to his wife and family. Lynda Thomas-Royster, RIH Dennis , San Diego, CA RIH, Dennis

I didn't know Dennis. But as his West Point classmate, I wanted your family to know the Class of 1982 is with you and so is the rest of the CORPS:
THE CORPS! THE CORPS! THE CORPS!
The Corps, bareheaded, salute it, with eyes up, thanking our God. That we of the Corps are treading, where they of the Corps have trod. They are here in ghostly assemblage. The men of the Corps long dead. And our hearts are standing attention, while we wait for their passing tread. We Sons of today, we salute you. You Sons of an earlier day; We follow, close order, behind you, where you have pointed the way; The long gray line of us stretches, thro' the years of a century told And the last man feels to his marrow, the grip of your far off hold. Grip hands with us now though we see not, grip hands with us strengthen our hearts. As the long line stiffens and straightens with the thrill that your presence imparts. Grip hands tho' it be from the shadows. While we swear, as you did of yore. Or living, or dying, to honor, the Corps, and the Corps, and the Corps.
Karen, Adam, Hope and Brooke, please accept our deepest condolences on the loss of Dennis. Not only was he our close friend, he was role model and mentor as well. We are saddened by his passing but feel honored to have shared him with you. We will cherish the memories of our time with Dennis. You will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.
Love,
Charlene Day/Rodney Hollifield
Hello Karen and Family. We the Splawn Family are so sorry for your lost. We love Dennis very much and remember when you all met. We remember you all dating, Dennis' fancy cars (Go Saab), His incredible intellect, and his genuine kindness. Then one day you all got married and had the wedding that people only dream about. You were gorgeous and Dennis was super handsome in his military uniform. Time has passed but the love shared between the Thomas, Splawn, and Callahan families will last forever. You, Adam, and Hope are in our prayers. Take care and know Dennis will be watching over us all from above.
Love,
Gary, Charlton, Bryan, and Brooks
