Doris Murphy Gist Mrs. Doris Murphy Gist, 68, peacefully entered into eternal rest on October 22, 2015. Mrs. Gist was the daughter of Joe B. and Lillie Mae Murphy. She was the widow of Willie James Gist. Mrs. Gist was a member of Greater St. James Temple Holiness Church. Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: her devoted children, Priscilla Cheeks, Pamela Murphy Katina Murphy and Rickey Murphy; her loving brothers, Willie B. Murphy and Alexander Murphy. Mrs. Gist was preceded in death by: her son, Melvin Lee Murphy; her siblings, Rose Goode, Earnestine Wannamaker, Ethel Mae Murphy, James Murphy and Johnny Lee Murphy. A Celebration of the Life of Doris Murphy Gist will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Greater St. James Temple Holiness Church. The Reverend Richard Landrum will officiate. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Jonesville, SC. The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Katina Murphy, 162 Belle Flower Court, Spartanburg, SC.
