I am deeply sadden to learn of the passing Dr. Diane Smith's passing. She was a force, a leader and a scholar. She was pivotal in my development as a young professional scholar. She is one of the dynamic woman who had played a part in making me Dr. Breann Branch. I will always cherish her light, love and leadership. May God rest her soul and bless her family. Thank you Dr. Smith.
Tracy, I am so sorry for your loss. Sending prayers, hugs and thoughts to The Smith Family. May God bless you all in the midst of your sorrows
To:Dr.Dianne's husband Todd, her loving mother, aunt Elizabeth and family, our hearts are so heavy with grief. Our thoughts and prayers and love are with each of you during this extremely difficult time. Dianne and her cousin Brenda D. Lucas will be greatly missed at church and Sunday school at Foster Chapel Baptist Church, Jonesville, SC. We're looking forward to seeing both Dr. Dianne and Brenda when Christ returns for His church! Love always, your cousin, Lillian Jeffries
Dianne was very inspirational to me from my time as a Head Start student into high school and college. She helped my mom foster a love of reading in me by recommending and mailing me books with characters who looked like me and by being my pen pal during middle school and high school. I remember one letter in particular where she told me books would allow me to "visit" places where my feet may never touch. I always looked forward to getting mail, seeing her name and the UMKC return address on the envelope. When she got her doctorate, I began to consider that maybe I would one day do the same. I am tremendously grateful for the encouragement and motivation I received from Dianne early in life and will be forever grateful for her impact on my life. My family was especially grateful for Dianne's attention to her Aunt Willie. My prayers are with Todd, Aunt Elizabeth, and all Dianne's siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family and friend. ππΎπ Dr. Sherrie L. Jeffries, cousin
