Essie Sylvennia Fair, 51, was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on July 13, 1974, to the late Clyde Fullerwinder Jr. and Bertha L. Whyte. She was the loving and devoted wife of Bryan Fair for over 24 years. Essie was widely known for her beautiful Spirit-filled singing, her exceptional cooking, and her unwavering kindness toward others.
She often shared her faith with those around her, reminding them, "You better get right before Jesus comes back."
On Monday, August 25, 2025, Essie peacefully transitioned to be with her Lord and Savior at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Essie graduated from Byrnes High School, Class of 1992. Essie accepted the Lord at a young age. She was ordained as an Elder at Com'promising of Praise Worship and Deliverance Temple and faithfully served in ministry for many years. Essie was a dedicated member of the Spiritual Voices since 2006.
She was preceded in death by: her mother, Bertha L. Whyte, her father, Clyde Fullerwinder Jr., her grandmother, Essie W. Smith, her grandfather, Monroe Smith Sr., her mother in love Louella Fair, her sisters in love Kimberly Fair, Tujawana Hope Jackson, and Katherine Tinsley.
Essie's memory will forever be cherished by her loving family, including: her husband Bryan Fair; three daughters, Breanna Nicole Fair and Breonia Janè Fair of Spartanburg, SC and Brandy Monè Fair of Greenville, SC. She also leaves behind three daughters in love: Courtney Sloan-Fair of Greenville, SC; Branyale Foster and Brittany Fair of Spartanburg, SC; six grandchildren; one sister: Vicki Fullenwider, one brother: Minister Douglas (Ira) Smith, a beloved niece Ivy Breanna Robinson; Three sisters-in-love: Mary (Mickey) Lyles, Janice Salters, and Lynne (Stacy) Jones, all of Spartanburg, SC; two brothers in love: Abraham Fair and Otis Fair, both of Spartanburg, SC. Additionally, a Best friend: Areatha Williams of Spartanburg, SC along with a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Essie's legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Kingdom New Life Church, Spartanburg, SC.
Mrs. Fair will lie in state on Friday, August 29, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC.

I'm praying for you all in this time of grief. Aunt Essie was always true to herself. She looked out for me everything I saw her. She would visit my Mom's church and we would always catch up.
