George Lamar Jackson, husband of Barbara Barnette Jackson of Moore, SC entered into eternal rest on August 4, 2024. He was the son of the late Gary Roy Jackson and Lillie Ruth Clark Jackson (Momma Ruth). He was the 4th of eleven children born to his parentsโ union.
He attended Bethune High school in Inman, SC. He worked and retired from Kohler Manufacturing Plant in Spartanburg, SC. Lamar was a loving, kind and gentle soul with a heart of gold. He was loved by everyone that knew him.
In addition to his parents, Lamar was predeceased by: three siblings, LTC Leon Dupree Jackson, Lonnie Ruth Jackson Means, and John Larry Jackson.
In addition to his loving and devoted wife, he leaves to cherish many fond memories: a son Christopher Lamar Jackson, Woodland, TX; a daughter, Genesis Mequel (Delvin) Jackson-Gist, Boiling Springs, SC; grandson, Shโ Hundre Marquise Jackson, reared in the home; goddaughter, Jatoria Smith; five brothers, Lawrence C. Jackson, Spartanburg , SC, Gary L. Jackson (Kimberly), Linder L. (Jean) Jackson and Louie R. (Karyn) Jackson, Inman, SC, Lewis K. Jackson, Spartanburg, SC; two sisters, Dr. LaVerne C. Jackson-Harvey (Robert), Charlotte, NC and Lucille L. Waddell, Spartaburg, SC; sister-in-love, Bessie A. Miller; brother- in-love, William M. Barnette, Spartanburg, SC; brother-in-love, Larry Miller, AZ; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024 from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, Spartanburg, SC.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Inman, SC.
