Mr. James A. Simpkins departed this life and was called home to be with his lord and Saviour on October 3, 2023, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. He was born October 25, 1942, to the late Mr. Albert Simpkins Sr. and the late Ms. Lois Luchie Simpkins.
Mr. Simpkins leaves to cherish his fondest memories: his daughter, Dr. Angie Simpkins of Atlanta Georgia. Grandchildren: Damarus Moton of Cumming Georgia, Patricka Moton of Greenville SC, Antwain Moton of Williamston SC, Sycheryl Simpkins of Greenville SC, and Brandyen Hamilton-Simpkins of Atlanta GA; sisters, Mildred Tolbert and Luevonia Brooks of Greenwood SC, and Celia Chamberlian of Plum Branch SC. Brothers: Oscar Simpkins and Outerbridges Simpkins of Greenwood SC. Great Grandchildren: Nicolas, Blake, and Alana Scott, Olivia, Alexandria and Kenzley Moton. A longtime friend Annie Kate Wells (KK) of the home and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.
Mr. Simpkins was preceded in death by his parents, a son James Houston (JJ), Sisters: Marie Sanders, and Bernadine Bennett and a brother Albert Simpkins Jr.
A Celebration of the Life of James Simpkins will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC. Burial will be in the Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery, Edgefield , SC.
