Obituary For Jeannette McCormick
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Jeannette Wallace McCormick announces her peaceful passing on October 4, 2025 at the age of 85, in Spartanburg, SC. She was surrounded by her son and her daughter.
She was born on August 30, 1940 in Spartanburg SC to the late Johnny Odell Wallace and Fannie Grace Fowler Wallace. She was raised in Inman, SC.
She was a proud graduate of Mary McLeod Bethune High School in Inman, SC. She was a majorette, cheerleader and the Glee club.
She then moved to Newark, NJ to live with her loving cousin, Fannie Mae Harris. She attended Drake University for secretary studies. She was excellent in the skill of shorthand. She worked for the Newark Community Center of the Arts in Newark, NJ.
In Newark, NJ she married Richard McCormick and gave birth to their two beloved children, Renae McCormick and Jeff McCormick (Loretha) both of Spartanburg, SC.
She moved back to Spartanburg, SC where her employment was at the SC School for the Deaf and Blind in Spartanburg, SC.
She loved watching sports with her son, studying the Bible and shopping with her daughter, spending time with and traveling with her family. As a faithful Witness of the Most High God, Jehovah, she had a deep love for field service and she proudly spoke about her strong faith in God’s promises at every opportunity.
She was preceded in death by: her siblings, Earl Dean Wallace, Samuel Wallace, John Wofford Wallace, Hessie Rebecca Wallace, Odessa Wallace.
Leaving to mourn are her passing are: her loving siblings, Alma Byrd and Mary Ann Kelly of Spartanburg, SC, Janice Rookard (J.C) of Inman, SC and Oneal Wallace (Marilyn) of Charlotte, NC; her grandchildren, Asia McCormick, RN, Quinten Meadors, MD and Jamaris Jackson; and her beloved host of nephews, nieces and cousins. She leaves behind a brotherhood of loving friends.
There will be a private viewing for the family on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. Memorial services will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3710 Cannons Campground Rd, Spartanburg, SC. Burial will be at the Heritage Memorial Gardens, 3901 S. Church St, Roebuck, SC.

I remember so vividly Sister McCormick's smile and how it would just light up to atmosphere! No matter how I was feeling, her beautiful, bright smile always made things better! . look forward to those precious hugs and to seeing that beautiful, bright smile again one day, real soon!
