Mr. Jimmy Lee Harris, affectionately known as “Diamond Jim,” entered eternal rest on August 29, 2025, with his devoted wife by his side. He was born on October 19, 1956, in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, to the late Samuel Davis and the late Annie Lois Hollis-Harris.
Jimmy was a man of warmth, charm, and unwavering faith who was deeply loved by all who knew him. Jimmy received his early education through the Spartanburg County School System, later earning an associate’s degree from Spartanburg Methodist College, Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Carolina Upstate and a master’s degree from Webster University. Jimmy was employed with Spartanburg District 7 Schools and the SC Works Unemployment Office until his health declined.
Known for his impeccable style, Jimmy “mastered the art of dressing.” Beyond fashion, he had a passion for reading and writing, publishing a book entitled “Poet’s Dark World of Consciousness.” He was a true community man, always willing to lend a hand, share wisdom, and encourage others. Jimmy especially made a lasting impact on children and young people in the community, inspiring them with his words, his example, and his generosity of spirit. More than anything, Jimmy loved the Lord and cherished his family.
Jimmy leaves to celebrate his life and treasure his memory: his devoted wife, Kim Porter Harris; one daughter, Brittany Wiggleton of Spartanburg, SC; three sons, Jimmorra Davis, Devon Jessup of Spartanburg, SC, and Jacobe Harris of the home; one sister, Sandra Harris Talley (Boyce); and three brothers, Ronnie Harris (Gwen), Melvin Harris (Brenda), and Willie James Harris (Mary), all of Spartanburg, SC. He was the proud grandfather of twelve grandchildren and is also survived by one devoted aunt, Martha Moss of Spartanburg, SC, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Joann Hillstock and Sarah Bell Long, and three brothers, John Arthur Harris, Marvin Harris, and Timothy Harris.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 12:00 noon at New Trinity Baptist Church,1130 Old Spartanburg Hwy., Wellford, SC. Burial will be in the Heritage Memorial Gardens, Roebuck, SC.
