Johnnie Mae Nicholas entered into eternal rest on April 1, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Melvin “MC” Nicholas, Sr. and the late Doris Alberta Nicholas. Ms. Nicholas was born on March 4, 1950.
She graduated from South Carolina State University and began her career as a teacher in Dillon, South Carolina. She later taught as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Lexington County schools until her retirement.
She was a member of Chalk Hill Baptist Church in Wagener, South Carolina. She also frequently attended Calidonia Missionary Baptist Church, the home church of many other family members.
Ms. Nicholas was predeceased by: her sisters Alma Marie Bowers and Juanita Rose Gilbert; and her brother Lester Nicholas.
She leaves to celebrate her homegoing: three brothers, Modell (Audrey) Nicholas, Melvin (Rosa Bell) Nicholas, Jr., and Gene (Mae Bell) Nicholas, all of Batesburg, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A Celebration of the Life of Johnnie Nicholas will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Calidonia Missionary Baptist Church, 1888 Old 96 Indian Trail, Batesburg, SC 29006. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
I am so sorry to hear of Ms. Nicholas's passing. I remember her being so kind and gentle with the students. I taught with her in Batesburg-Leesville. You have my deepest sympathy.
