Obituary For Joseph Thompson

Joseph Thompson “Papa Joe, Uncle Joe, PopPop”, 84, peacefully entered into eternal rest on November 14, 2018. Mr. Thompson was the son of the late Mr. Alvin Thompson and Mrs. Ruth Robinson Thompson. He was the husband of Jessie Rowland Thompson.

Joseph "Joe" was a member of New Day Baptist Church.

He retired from Beverage Air after 25 years of service as a Shipping Clerk. He also served in the United States Army Reserve for 25 years.

Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: his wife of 64 years, Jessie Thompson; one daughter, Veronica Thompson (Young) and son-in-law, Ernest Young of Hockessin, DE; his grandson, E.J. Young of Charlotte, NC; his siblings, Josephine Means (twin sister), Daisy Rice, Mattie Ruth Brannon, Christine Wilkins, Willie Thompson and Emma Finger all of Spartanburg, SC; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Joseph was preceded in death respectively by: two sisters, Mamie Jeter and Lillie Mae Fullerwinder; and two brothers, John and James Thompson.

A Celebration of the Life of Joseph "Joe" Thompson will be held on Sunday November 18, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at New Day Baptist Church, 2090 S. Church St. Ext., Spartanburg, SC. The Reverend Dr. James L. Hailstock will officiate. Burial will be in the Heritage Memorial Gardens, 3901 S. Church St. Ext., Roebuck, SC.

The family will receive family and friends at the home of Mrs. Jessie R. Thompson.
