Obituary For Judy Rookard

Judy Mae Bridges Rookard, affectionately known as “Judy Mae,” was born on December 13, 1961, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She was raised “back of the college” in Spartanburg, where she grew up as one of seven siblings in a close-knit and lively family.

Judy is lovingly remembered by her mother, Evelyn Simuel, and was preceded in death by her father, Willie Simuel. She is also remembered by her brothers Terry Simuel, Jamarcus Simuel, and Darrell Simuel; her sister Alberta Carree; and was preceded in death by her brothers Joe Simuel, Bobby Simuel, and Donald Simuel, as well as her sister Betty Smith.

She was the proud and devoted mother of Stephanie Bridges, Marquita Bridges, and Ricky Bridges, and a loving stepmother to Angela Jackson. Judy adored her children deeply, and her love for them was constant and unwavering.

She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: grandsons Nehemiah Jackson, Deshawn Jackson, and Elijah Bridges; granddaughters Areyonna Jackson and
Cheyenne Jackson; and several great-grandchildren who brought her great joy and pride.

Celebrating Her Life

Judy lived life in her own way, real, unfiltered, and meaningful to those who truly knew her.

She didn’t know any strangers… unless, of course, you were new to her. Judy wasn’t one to open up right away, but once she got to know you, you had a friend for life - loyal, honest, and always real. Her relationships weren’t built on surface-level connections; they were built on authenticity, and that’s what made them last.

Judy found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved being outdoors, spending time with her family, and listening to music—moments where laughter came easy, and memories were made without effort.

Above all, Judy lived life on her own terms. She leaves behind a legacy of real love, lasting bonds, and memories that will continue to bring both smiles and stories for years to come.
