Lenora Mines-Porter (also effectually known as Sister Lenora) departed this life peacefully on January 27, 2026, at 1:00 am at Prisma Greer Memorial Hospital in Greer South Carolina. Sister Lenora was born in Brooklyn, New York to Mr. Freddie Mines and Mrs. Sarah Mines. At the age of nine months, she and her
siblings were brought to Hodges SC to live with her maternal grandmother, Willie Lee Mayes. However, she visited her mother each year. She grew up knowing her grandmother as her mother.
Sister Lenora was blessed to graduate from Erskine College with a BS degree in Consumer Education of which she taught school for many years in the Greenville County School District. She received her spiritual birth by being baptized in Jesus’ name and receiving the Holy Ghost in 1984 at Bethesda Temple Holiness Church, Greer SC. In 1991 she became a member of Greater St. James Temple Holiness
Church where she remained until her death. There she met and married Brother Raymond Porter. They were blessed to be married for six and half years before the Lord called him home. Sister Lenora truly missed him.
At Greater St. James Temple, she was a devoted member of the Music Ministry where she sang in the Alto section. She was a dedicated Sunday School teacher, a loyal member of the Pastors Aid Committee, and a faithful member of the Women
of Virtue. Sister Lenora volunteered for many positions in church and worked hard at each of them including the H.O.P.E. Soup Kitchen. She would often say “I love the Lord and I love my church”. Working in the kitchen and Fellowship Hall was one of her favorite volunteer positions.
Sister Lenora was preceded in death by her grandmother, Willie Lee Mayes, her father Freddie Mines, mother, Sarah Butler and William Butler (Stepfather), brothers, Carlos (Martha-deceased) Mines, Harold (Alma-deceased) Mines, and her
devoted husband, Raymond Porter. She leaves to cherish her sisters; Constances (Wardell) Martin, Viola (Kenneth-deceased) Battle, Shirley Mines, and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 12:00 noon at Greater St. James Temple, Inman, SC. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Greer, SC. Live stream will be available via Facebook on the TEEFERGUSON at https://evt.live/lenora-porter
