SPARTANBURG, SC- Lillie Foster Brewton, 96, peacefully entered into eternal rest on December 29, 2018. Mrs. Brewton was the daughter of the late Mrs. Mary McIntyre Foster. She was the widow of the late Hiawatha Brewton.
Lillie Brewton was a dedicated member of Greater St. James Temple.
She retired from Spartan Undies in 1985 after 20 years of service.
Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: six daughters, Carolyn Landrum (Richard) of Spartanburg,SC, Janice Means (John) of Columbia, SC, Judy McClurkin (James) of Spartanburg, SC, Sandra Burgess (Wade) of Columbia, SC, Zonya Brewton of Smyrna, GA and Jackie Brewton of Smyrna, GA; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a sister, Martha Staggs-Thomas (William) of Silver Springs, MD; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Lillie was preceded in death by: her husband, Hiawatha Brewton; three sons, Leslie Brewton, Willie Brewton and Terry Brewton; a daughter, Barbara Jean Brewton; her mother, Mary McIntyre Foster; sister, Janie Foster; and brother, Claude (June) Foster.
A Celebration of the Life of Lillie Brewton will be held on January 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Greater St. James Temple, 13255 Asheville Highway, Inman, SC. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2019 at the John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 594 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Greater St. James Temple's Choice/Davis Scholarship Fund, which supports deserving high school students pursuing higher education. Checks should be made payable to Greater St James Temple,13255 Asheville Highway, Inman, SC.
