Obituary For Marion McDowell
The family of Marion “Buster” McDowell Jr. is deeply saddened to announce his passing on January 26, 2026. He was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to the late Mildred Virginia Scruggs McDowell and Marion McDowell.
Affectionately known as “Buster,” he lived a full and remarkable life and touched the hearts of everyone he met. He showed his love not through long speeches, but through acts of service and his constant presence.
He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Nathaniel Maurice Gaffney; his grandson, Izell Maurice Gaffney; his sisters, Wilma Gilliam, Mary Scruggs, Diane Vernon, Mildred McDowell, Ruth Crawford, and Collossia “Lettie” McDowell; along with cherished friends and extended family.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC.
