Marvin Matthew Fowler went to his heavenly home on Friday, March 12, 2021. Marvin was the son of Charlie and Dollie Durrah Fowler. He was helpful to his parents. He would plant and cook what was harvested. Marvin was educated at Fairforest Training School and the first Lincoln School of Fairforest in Spartanburg County where he played football and baptized at Friendship Baptist Church. He was employed as a cook at Wofford College and employed at Abbott Laboratory in Spartanburg. Marvin was a member of V.F.W Post 9349 where he enjoyed the fellowship and worked with other Post members.
Marvin Fowler was the kind of person you would never forget. Upon his retirement, he became a taxi for family and friends, a cook for anyone that needed a chef, a babysitter if needed at the last minute and a mechanic sometimes. At our family gathering we knew to expect and get a special treat from him. He would help cook some of the food for the Homecoming Dinners at Friendship Baptist Church. When he was not busy, Marvinโs pastime was planting a small garden and sitting on his front porch. He was just a kind person and loved his family.
Marvin leaves to mourn, his wife Jean Faison Fowler, his four children, Pamela Browning, Marvin Brian Fowler, Fredrick Keith Fowler, Rosilyn (Raymond) Manigan and his stepchildren, Debra Boggs and Janice Boggs all of Spartanburg, South Carolina. He also leaves twenty grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren. They loved him dearly. He also leaves one sister Mrs. Louise Donald of Cleveland, Ohio, two brothers, Reverend Carl Donald (Ethel) Fowler of Spartanburg and John Capus (Toni)Fowler of Detroit, Michigan. He will be missed by nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Waiting to greet him at his Heavenly home are his seven sisters, Denver Fowler, Elizabeth Fowler, Ruth F. Tyler, Virginia F. Ball, Maristeen F. McQueen, Cora F. Knuckles and Nancy F. Knuckles and five brothers, Charlie W. Fowler, Jr., Roy T. Fowler, Sr., Edward E. Fowler, Reverend William E. Fowler, James (Jim) Fowler and one stepdaughter, Rosalind Boggs.
Services will be Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 2:00 a.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, Spartanburg, South Carolina. Interment will be in the East Spartanburg Cemetery, Spartanburg, South Carolina.
