Obituary For Mr. Eddie Dean Gentry

Spartanburg, SC – Mr. Eddie Dean Gentry, 59, entered eternal rest on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Eddie was a native of Spartanburg County; he was the son of the late J.W. Gentry and the late Annaballe Palmer. Mr. Gentry was the husband of Dorothy Geter Gentry for over 40 years. Eddie was a 1976 graduate of Cowpens High School and served with the US Army as a 62B30 for 13 years. In addition to his wife he leaves to cherish fond and loving memories: his son, Derrick (Summers) Gentry of Enoree, SC; grandchildren, Da’jona Gentry, Derrick Gentry, Jr., Detrick Gentry, Jr., Dae’drell Gentry and Tiyana Stephens; his mother-in-law, Mary Louise Geter; his brothers, Randy Gentry, Michael Brannon and Henry Robinson; his sisters-in-law, Rosiland Geter and Crystal (Travis) Simpson; his brother-in-law, Sean Tucker. Mr. Eddie Dean Gentry is preceded in death by his son, Detrick Gerard Gentry, Sr. A celebration of the life of Eddie Gentry will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2017 at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St. Spartanburg, SC. Dr. Thomas E. Massey, Jr. will officiate. Interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Gardens, 2310 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC. The family will receive friends at the home, 122 Idlewood Circle, Spartanburg, SC.
