Jerry McArthur Murry was born July 2, 1952 to the late Mr. Joe Seafus Murray and Mrs. Helen Ruth Pritchett Murray. At an early age, he confessed Christ and became a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Jerry, also called “Mac” by his family and friends, attended Carver High School where he participated in the marching band and school choir. Shortly after graduating high school, Mac moved to Michigan and attended college. While there, he married and supported his family as a factory worker and truck driver. When he moved back to Alabama, he worked in the pulpwood and farming industries. Upon retirement, Mac enjoyed time with family and friends. When he was not sitting under the shed with his brother, Cephus, he enjoyed watching “the westerns” with his mother. He had an interesting sense of humor and loved horses and dogs. Mac passed away at his home on Thursday, January 31, 2019 and was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Joe Seafus Murray; brothers, Mr. Anthony “Pete” and Mr. Willie Joe Murray; son, Louis Robertson; and grandson, Rashad McClaney.
He is survived by a loving mother, Mrs. Helen Pritchett Murray; five children, Mr. Kenneth (Latitia) McClaney, Dr. Venesia McClaney, Mr. Antoine Murry, Mr. Anthony Robertson, and Mr. Kevin Robinson; three siblings, Mr. Cephus Murray, Mr. Curtis (Carmen) Murray and Mrs. Helen (Reginald) Johnson; a host of grandchildren and greatgrandchildren; two uncles, Mr. Archie Pritchett and Mr. Walter Pritchett; four aunts, Mrs. Ernestine Brundidge, Mrs. Betty Watson, Mrs. Mandy Matthews, and Mrs. Bertha (James) Jones; a special friend and “daughter”, Ms. Jennifer Baldwin; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
