Obituary For Mrs. Dorothy McKinney

ATLANTA, GA-- Mrs. Dorothy Level McKinney, was born on April 17, 1924 in Spartanburg, SC to the late Mr. Robert Level, Sr. and Mrs. Josephine Chambers Level. She entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 13, 2013. Mrs. McKinney was married to Edward McKinney. From this union, one child, Joseph McKinney, was born.At an early age, she confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Macedonia Baptist Church where she received her spiritual foundation. She was an active and faithful member, serving in many capacities at Macedonia until she relocated to Atlanta, GA in 2005 to get the assistance she needed from her son and his wife due to declining health.Mrs. McKinney graduated from Carver High School in Spartanburg. After attending Claflin College, she earned a Cosmetology Degree in Hair Care from the Atlanta Cosmetology School in Atlanta, GA. Her professional career began as a hair care professional in Inman, SC. She had a 25 year career with the South Carolina School for the Death and Blind.Mrs. McKinney was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Edward McKinney; two brothers, Mr. Robert Level, Sr. and Mr. Rayfield Level; and six sisters, Miss Zelline Level, Miss Emily Level, Mrs. Sara Level Littlejohn, Miss Sylvania Level, Mrs. Susie Level Pearson and Mrs. Eloise Level McFadden.Mrs. McKinney was deeply loved by her family and friends. In addition to her son, she leaves to cherish her memory her daughter-in-law, Gayle Ransom and grandson, Austin McKinney, both of Atlanta, GA and a host of relatives and friends.Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 22 at 3:00 pm at the Macedonia Baptist Church, Spartanburg, SC, Reverend Dr. M. Keith McDaniel will officiate.Interment will follow in the Lincoln Memorial Gardens, Drayton, SC.The family will receive friends on Friday evening, June 21, 2013 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel.
