SPARTANBURG, SC-- Mrs. Julia Ann Boyce Byrd peacefully entered rest on Wednesday, May 15, 2913. She was blessed with longevity, having a life span of 105 years. The family gives thanks for the gift of Mrs. Byrd heading six generations. Mrs. Byrd was born in Greenville County on September 13, 1907, to the late Henry Perry Boyce and the late Fannie Peace Boyce.Mrs. Byrd was a member of Cummings Street Baptist Church, where she formerly served in the Usher Board, the Senior Choir and the Hospitality Committee. She was the Mother of the Church."Mama Julia" is survived by: her devoted son, Mr. James Perry Walker of Spartanburg, SC; seven grandchildren, Carrie Mae (Ben) Brewton, Julia (Eugene) Foggie, Nina Gail Walker, Perry (Patricia) Johnson, Dennis (Betty Jean) Walker, Rose (Isaac) Tally and Phyllis (Floyd) Ford; a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren; her nieces and her nephew.A Service of Celebration for the Life of Mrs. Julia Ann Boyce Byrd will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Cummings Street Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. Apostle Lavon Gilmore will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Gardens.
