Obituary For Odell Gist

Odell Gist, 72, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. Mr. Gist was the son of the late Jennie Lee Glenn-Gist and Ben Gist. He was employed with Inman Mills. Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: his daughters, Tameka Sims and Carla Farrow both of Spartanburg, SC; his sons, Robert “Ralph” Farrow of Spartanburg, SC and Odell Gist, Jr. of Washington, D.C.; his two grandchildren reared in the home, Kendra Nesbitt and Jamius Smith; his sisters, Bennie Mae Benson, Burnastine Cohen and Mamie Lowrance all of Spartanburg, SC; his brothers, John (Beverly) Gist and Doug Gist of Spartanburg, SC; his significant other, Mattie Smith; his thirteen grandchildren; and his five great grandchildren. Odell was preceded in death by his son, George Gist and three sisters, Geraldine Ballenger, Sandra Kate Sibert and Betty Jean Foster. A Celebration of the Life of Odell Gist will be held on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC. Reverend Frankie Ford will officiate. Interment will be in the Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens, 4164 Boiling Springs Rd., Boiling Springs, SC. The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Mamie Lowrance, 111 Ray Circle, Spartanburg, SC.
