Obituary For Oran Logan, Sr.

SPARTANBURG, SC-- Oran Franklin Logan, Sr. was born December 7, 1932 in Lyman, SC to the late Mr. Martin James and Miss Lorea Logan. He gave his life to Christ at an early age and joined Shiloh Baptist Church where he was baptized and served in many capacities including Sunday School Superintendent. He later joined Macedonia Baptist Church and served on the Trustee Board. Oran attended Spartanburg and Greenville County public schools and graduated from Dunbar High School in Greer, SC. After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge. He later received a diploma in Electricity from Denmark Area Trade School in 1958. Upon graduating from Denmark, he took the State Board Electrical Examination and became the first licensed black electrician in the state of South Carolina. Oran proved to be a pioneer when he was motivated to start his own business 54 years ago when others refused to hire him. Oran was preceded in death by his devoted and loving wife, Wyvonnia Lucille Logan. He is survived by one daughter, Debbie Lynn (Thomas) Logan of Spartanburg, SC; three sons, Oran (Wanda) Logan, Jr. of Spartanburg, Fredric (Denise) Logan of Spartanburg, and Farrand Logan of Dacula, GA; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Elizabeth (the late Rev. Curtis Jackson, Jr.) of Spartanburg, Mrs. Iris (the late Mr. Ellis Jackson) Jackson of Kennesaw, GA and Mrs. Lois (the late Mr. Charlie Jackson) Jackson of Moreno, CA; three brothers-in-law, Mr. Lawrence (the late Mrs. Shirley Jackson Webb) Webb of Spartanburg, Mr. Daniel (the late Mrs. Margaret Jackson Huston) Huston of Roebuck, SC and Mr. Stinson (Sharon) Jackson of Atlanta, GA.; nine grandchildren, Lakeisha (Tyrus) Watson, Derrick Logan, Danielle (Nasir) Ramadan, Loren Logan, Jordan Logan, Oran F. Logan, III, Fredric Logan, Jr., Taylor Logan and Farrand Logan, Jr.; seven great grandchildren, Jayla Logan, Breonna Logan, Laila Ramadan, Aiden Logan, Nilon Logan, Karmen Watson and Elisa Logan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church families. A Celebration of the Life of Oran Franklin Logan, Sr. will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, 502 South Daniel Morgan Avenue, Spartanburg, SC. The Reverend Dr. M. Keith McDaniel will officiate. Mr. Logan will lie in state at church from 12:00 noon until the hour of the service. Interment will be in Heritage Memorial Gardens.
