Everett Jenkins Family On Wednesday, December 19, 2012 the sky grew a little lighter, and the Heavens: A little Brighter. I was not outside at the exact time it happened. I didn?ÇÖt find out about it, until the very next day. But, from this earth, an extraordinary Soul left us and took to the heavens. And in our universe, a new star appeared. Everett Jenkins?Ǫ that shining soul. He watched over us down here on earth and now he will have a new vantage point?Ǫ still ready to help us when we call. Butchie would truly give to you all he had to help, and sometimes even to his own detriment. Everett brightened us with his smile and floored us with that deep, boisterous laugh! Warm as the sun, with a heart that was more precious than gold, our loving friend still gave us more?Ǫ He gave us his soul through his voice. He made memories and marked great points in time for all of our families. At our weddings, he sang; at church, on holidays, christenings, graduations, and at reunions?Ǫ Butchie sang. And when He sang at a funeral, his voice cradled and comforted us like a warm blanket. I think, his star up there must be brighter than most because he helped and was loved by so many. I looked to the heavens at night to try to find my friend, my confidant, my brother; but I can?ÇÖt find him. I don?ÇÖt know which star to choose?Ǫbut then, I hear?Ǫ that great big belly laugh?Ǫ..and just like those jokes that Butchie forgets the punch line to, or the timing for, Everett is at it again, putting a smile on a tear soaked face. I don?ÇÖt need to look for his star up there, because Butchie will always be imprinted in my heart and in the hearts of all of his friends and family. Butchie, my shining star, you will always be loved.
