Obituary For Rev. Leroy Fowler
Reverend Leroy Fowler was born on May 8, 1942, to the late Converse Fowler and Lucille Kelly Fowler, in Wellford, SC, as their third son of nine children.
Leroy entered eternal rest on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 9:25 p.m.
He attended Ben Bomar Grammar School and graduated in 1960 from Mary M. Bethune High School. He attended classes at what was then Spartanburg Technical College. Afterwards, he was drafted into the United States Army where he was trained in armor radio maintenance. His tenure included a two-year assignment in Germany.
Leroy was employed by Milliken; Company as a supervisor and by W. W. Grainger, Inc. as a warehouse worker.
Leroy has been an active member of the Zion Hill Baptist Church for more than fifty years. Over the years, his church service included serving as an usher, Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher, and assistant pastor. Most recently, he
served as interim pastor for almost two years at Zion Hill Baptist Church. Leroy’s confession was that “We must witness to and evangelize ALL PEOPLE starting with our loved ones and family members. We would not want even our worst enemy to go to hell.”
In addition to his parents, Leroy was preceded in death by two brothers Alfred Fowler and Melvin Fowler, and one sister, Betty Louise Fowler.
Leroy leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 56 years (exactly one month shy of 57 years), Clara Louise Jones Fowler; his daughter, Jennifer Janel Fowler; his son, Vincent Lee Fowler; five sisters, Doris Redd of New Jersey, Mildred Orleans of New
Jersey, Scarlet Batts (Clarence) of Pacolet, SC, Sandra Glover (Timothy) of Chesnee, SC, and Beatrice Clark (Greg) of Anderson, SC; a special sister-in-law, Mattie Louise Fowler; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Inman, SC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.Livestream: https://evt.live/rev-leroy-fowler
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the chapel.
