Rev. Stanley Johnson
Rev. Stanley Johnson of Boiling Springs, SC transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home on June 2, 2020. Born on September 5th, 1947 he was the son of the late Mr. Hosea Johnson and Mrs. Lois A. Foster Johnson.
He was predeceased by: his brother, Horace L. Johnson and his sister-in-law, Diana Clark.
Stanley was educated in Spartanburg County Schools, he graduated from Lincoln High School in 1965. He furthered his education at Spartanburg Technical College and Limestone College graduating with a degree in Industrial Engineering.
Rev. Johnson served in the United States Army from 1970 to 1972. He was a Vietnam Veteran. Stanley served his country well and was honorably discharged in 1972.
He was a car enthusiast. Mr. Johnson was employed with Farrell Chevrolet, retiring after twenty-five years of service.
Rev. Johnson was a member of Ridgeville Baptist Church for over forty years serving first as trustee, deacon and then as Associate Minister. Rev. Johnson started and was the former President of the Brotherhood Ministry.
He also attended the Hardy Chapel Baptist Church.
Stanley loved to travel and see new places. In the summer he would hit the road with his wife and often other family members to take fun road trips. He also loved the game of football, regularly sharing his insight and predictions with others. Mr. Johnson held his beloved classmates Lincoln High School, Class of 1965 near and dear to his heart.
Stanley leaves loving and cherished memories to: his wife of fifty-one years, Carolyn Johnson; his son, Shannon Anderson (Cherry); his two brothers, Hosea “June” Johnson and Raymond Johnson both of Spartanburg SC; his two sisters, Bernice Brice of Columbus, OH, and Carrie Nolen of Atlanta, GA; his uncle, James “Jay” Foster; his aunt, Vadis Collins (Cecil), all of Columbus, OH; his mother-in-law, Minister Earline Jackson; his sisters-in-law, Wilma Smith (Joe), Barbara Byrd, Edith Jackson (T.J.) and Sandra Shell; his two brothers-in-law, Roger and Steve Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Rev. Johnson was a loving, kind and humble individual. He will truly be missed by everyone who knew him.
A Celebration of the Life of Reverend Stanley Johnson will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. in the Ridgeville Baptist Church Cemetery, 385 Ridgeville Baptist Church Rd., Inman, SC. Rev. Amos Durham will officiate.
