Spartanburg, SC - Ricky Jerome Sims, 55, went home to be with the Lord on August 23, 2016. Mr. Sims was born on May 22, 1961 in Spartanburg, SC. He was the son of the late Bennie Sims Sr. and Helen (Jones) Sims. He graduated from Spartanburg High School Class of 1979. Ricky continued to follow his dreams by later attending the Art Institute of Atlanta. Ricky was an entrepreneur and was self-employed for many years. He was very proud of his real estate endeavors and enjoyed traveling, drawing and spending quality time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents; a brother, Bennie Sims, Jr.; and a sister, Sandra Sims. Ricky is survived by: his three children: Tannisha (Charles) Browning, Kenya (Kedrick) Werts and Ricky Jermaine Briggs; his four grandchildren, Keyousha Henderson, Meousha Garret, Torodd Haney and Alliyah Haney; his two great grandchildren, Princeton Cooper and Ka’Mariee Kerns; his brother, Rev. Albert (Decindy) Sims; his sisters, Rev. Shirley Gray, Mary Alice Sims , Dr. Glenda P. Sims, Joyce (James) Morrow, Jacqueline Sims and Angela Sims; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends to cherish fond memories. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at New Hopewell Baptist Church, 215 Hickory Dr., Startex, SC. Reverend Albert Sims will be officiating. Interment will be in the Heritage Memorial Gardens, 3901 S. Church St., Roebuck, SC. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel.
