Russell T. Hunnicutt,Sr., 87, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away Monday, March 27, 2023, at Physical Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, after a brief illness. Born in Spartanburg, SC on October 13, 1935, he was the son of the late Raymond and Zephyr Stroble Hunnicutt.
Mr. Hunnicutt was a lifelong member of Foster Chapel Baptist Church, and a masonic brother of Robert Smalls Lodge #133. He also retired from Woodland Heights Elementary School after 5 years and the Draper Corporation after 35 years.
Left to cherish his memories are: three children, Sylvia H. Foster of Moore, SC, Roy Lee Hunnicutt (Aundrea) and Russell “Rex” Hunnicutt, Jr. (Sandra) of Atlanta, GA; seven grandchildren, Lakecia Foster Stickney (Alim) of Silver Spring, MD, Janelle Dunn (Joseph) of Louisville, KY, LaKeidra Johnson, Diamond Hunnicutt, and Tiaonna Hunnicutt of Atlanta, GA, Christian Stewart (Kendrick) of Lakeland, FL, and Clayton Foster of Moore, SC; 10 great-grandchildren; his brother, Roy Hunnicutt, Sr. (Ruth) of Cleveland, OH; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ruby Cunningham and Ms. Rosa Smith of Philadelphia, PA, and Ms. Elizabeth Phillips of Jacksonville, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Pearly S. Hunnicutt; son, Roland “Skeet” Hunnicutt; siblings, Raymond Hunnicutt, Jr. and Rufus Hunnicutt; and son-in-law, John Marcus Foster, Jr.
Homegoing Services will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Foster Chapel Baptist Church, 2800 Stone Station Rd., Roebuck, SC. Interment will be held in Heritage Memorial Gardens, 3901 S. Church St., Roebuck, SC, where he will receive his last masonic rites.
