Obituary For Ruthie Mae Nash
The life clock of Ruthie Mae Nash - affectionately known to many as "Rudabaga" - began in Spartanburg County on July 26, 1938, as the daughter of the late Olive J. and Bruther Glenn Meadows. For a little over 60 years, she was the devoted wife of Dea. Joe Charles Nash Sr. and their union was blessed with three children.
Sis. Ruthie was a graduate of Lincoln High School and received a certificate in gerontology from Spartanburg Community College. She worked as a sewing machine operator at Raycord Industries until it closed. She later retired from Felters, Inc.
At an early age, Sis. Ruthie joined and was baptized at Thompson Chapel Baptist Church in Jonesville, SC. She recognized at an early age that God had blessed her with the gift and talent of singing. Psalm 100:2 says, "Come before His presence with singing…" and she did that any time she was given the opportunity to do so. Well known throughout Spartanburg and Union counties for her powerful, soul-stirring and anointed voice, she began singing gospel during her teen years as a member of a quartet with her brothers. Her melodious voice could be heard as a member of the various choirs at the church. Sis. Ruthie was one of the founding members of the Thompson Chapel Sympathy Club and a lifelong member of the Glenn Springs Human Society.
Left to cherish a plethora of fond memories are: her children, Carolyn Nash of Moore and Anthony Nash of the home; three grandchildren, Courtney Nash, Christian Nash, and Micah Nash; four great-grandchildren, Austin Nash, Amyhja Nash, Camiyah Nash and Camille Williams; one daughter-in-love, Cheryl Nash; her lifelong dearest friend Sarah Moore Fair; and many other friends and family. She was preceded in death by: her son, Joe Charles Nash Jr. and her oldest grandson, Matthew Christopher Nash. Sis. Ruthie was the last surviving sibling in her family.
Sis. Ruthie will always be remembered for her out-going, larger-than-life personality. When in her presence, her humor and laughter seemed almost contagious. She always presented love and encouragement to so many, always giving a message about the goodness of the Lord and her unwavering love for Him.
A Celebration of the Life of Ruthie Mae Nash will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC. Dr. Patrick Suber will officiate. Burial will be in the Thompson Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Jonesville, SC.

Cousin Ruth Mae was such blessing to our Family. She was always there to Len a helping hands. She took Mommy Sis to the doctors office and beauty Shop when she able to and all the Glenn's were good Christian friends as well as family. We thank God for her loyalty and faithfulness. She let her light shine where ever She went. She will be greatly missed by the Jeter and Jones Family. RIH Cousin Ruth Mae Nash, we love you and m6Siss you.
May all the memories you have in your heart help to comfort you during this time. Mrs Nash was such a sweet, sophisticated lady. She will be missed; but never forgotten. She is in God's care! Blessings to the family.
Mrs. Ruthie Nash was one of the sweetest people I know. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word to share. Deacon and Mrs. Nash have been like my parents. They offered their support in both words and deeds at a time in my life when I needed it the most. Mrs. Nash will be missed but never forgotten.
